Audio Data (Processed Locally Only)​

Silence Cut analyzes the audio stream of YouTube videos in real time to detect silent and music-only sections. This audio analysis:

  • Happens entirely on your device within your browser
  • Is never recorded, stored, or transmitted anywhere
  • Is processed in real time and immediately discarded
  • Cannot be accessed by us or any third party

Extension Settings (Stored Locally Only)​

Your preferences (silence threshold, speed multiplier, detection mode, etc.) are saved using Chrome's local storage API. This data:

  • Is stored only on your device
  • Never leaves your browser
  • Is not accessible to us or any third party
  • Can be cleared at any time by removing the extension

Information We Do NOT Collect​

We want to be explicitly clear about what we do not do:

  • No personal information: We do not collect names, emails, or any identifiers
  • No browsing history: We do not track which videos you watch or websites you visit
  • No usage analytics: We do not track how you use the extension
  • No crash reports: We do not collect error or diagnostic data
  • No cookies or tracking: We do not use cookies, pixels, or any tracking technologies
  • No external network requests: The extension makes zero network calls to any server

Permissions Explained​

Silence Cut requires the following browser permissions to function:

Storage​

  • Purpose: Saves your extension preferences (threshold, speed, mode, etc.) locally
  • Scope: Data is stored only in your browser's local storage
  • Data: Only your settings — no personal information

Active Tab​

  • Purpose: Allows the extension to interact with the currently active YouTube tab for audio analysis
  • Scope: Only activates when you are on a YouTube page
  • Data: No data is collected or stored from tab interactions

Host Permission (youtube.com)​

  • Purpose: Enables the content script to run on YouTube pages for real-time audio processing
  • Scope: Limited exclusively to YouTube domains
  • Data: No data is extracted or transmitted from YouTube pages

No additional permissions are requested or required.

Data Sharing and Disclosure​

We do not share any data with anyone because we do not collect any data. There are:

  • No third-party services receiving your data
  • No advertising partners
  • No analytics providers
  • No affiliate tracking
  • No data brokers

Data Security​

Since no data is collected or transmitted, there is no data at risk. Your extension settings are stored locally using Chrome's built-in storage API, which is sandboxed and protected by your browser's security model.

Children's Privacy​

Silence Cut does not collect any data from any user, including children. The extension is safe for users of all ages.

Your Rights​

Since we do not collect personal data, traditional data rights (access, deletion, portability) are not applicable. However, you always have the right to:

  • Remove the extension: Uninstalling Silence Cut removes all locally stored settings

International Users​

Silence Cut operates the same way for all users worldwide. Since no data is collected or transferred, there are no international data transfer concerns. The extension complies with:

  • LGPD (Brazil)
  • And other applicable privacy regulations
